Cape Town based alternative pop singer/songwriter, Jimmy Nevis is a star on the rise. The 20 year old singer/producer who recently dropped his debut album “Subliminal”, recently signed to American label, Ultra Records – which is also home to Deadmau5, Kaskade and Benny Bennasi. His sound is fresh and international and his single “Heartboxing’ is currently on high rotation on both MTV Base and Trace TV.
I was particularly impressed with the quality of his video, (“Heartboxing”) and his Pop/R&B influenced sound. Clearly he takes his craft very seriously…

Introducing 21-year old British Nigerian singer, songwriter and rising Pop star LOLA RAE – real name Rachel Funmilola Garton – with her excellent debut, the sultry smooth “High (Wanting More)” which features BRIDGE from L.O.S.
Lola has just made her acting debut in Ice Prince’s video for “More”.
After impressing none other than Simon Cowell on Britain’s Got Talent back in 2010 and turning down an invitation to X-factor UK, Lola Rae is paving her own way in today’s music landscape, starting with these two records that will literally knock your socks off…
Produced by P2J, “High (Wanting More)” is a sultry mid-tempo R&B opus which sees Lola Rae in flying form as she shows off her enchanting vocals and vivacious lyrics over a resounding drums-led musical milieu with Bridge from L.O.S adding that enthralling Hip-Hop edge to complement Lola Rae’s infectious R&B vibe and make “High (Wanting More)” a very exciting collaboration.

Urban Hype is a Zambian group consisting of three members: Ajay, Prince Roy and Shapi. The Lusaka based group was formed in December 2011. They describe their sound as a fusion of Afro-beats, RnB and Dance-hall. The group have opened for top acts including Mi Casa and DJ Oskido.
They recently dropped a new track titled, “Only One” and it instantly made it to my iPod. The song is fresh and original with a reggae/hip hop vibe, catchy lyrics and soulful melody. The track is international standard and the African elements make it stand out. It was produced by F Jay and Casy Sings.
They may be new in the game but with talent like this, Urban Hype will certainly make their mark.
